So long as saga: four centuries of Badaga social history
Hockings, Paul
₹ 1295.00
In the sixteenth century, the Badagas (meaning 'northerner') fled the vanquished empire of Vijayanagar and came to seek refuge on the Nilgiri Massif. A few hundred at most, they found themselves among quite unwarlike tribes--the Todas, Kotas and Kurumbas--who understandingly gave them land to settle on. Thus began one of the most successful community transplants that South India ever witnessed.
